Panaji: Two days after the Health Minister Vishwajit Rane urged Chief Minister to drop IIT Goa project at Shel Melauli, a representation from all the local representatives, the Zilla Parishad members and the MLA of Valpoi Constituency was given to CM.
“After consultation with all the people of Sattari, we have come to a conclusion that we need to make a request to the Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant, to shift the IIT out of Shel Melauli in Sattari Taluka. We feel that the people do not want the IIT in that area, it is best to shift it out,” the representation read.
The representation said the whole idea to bring the IIT in Sattari was for the development of Sattari and development of the whole Taluka and the neighboring Talukas.
“But if the people do not want the IIT in Sattari, I would like to make a humble request to the Hon’ble Chief Minister to please take a decision to shift the IIT out of Sattari and from Shel Melauli,” people said in the representation.
“We, the local representatives of all the Panchayats in Sattari Taluka make this humble request in all humility to you to cancel this project in Sattari and to make the announcement at the earliest so that the people are made aware that this project is not going to come up in Sattari,” they said.
