PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that all the areas in Goa are provided with potable water supply and there is no acute water shortage except during maintenance works taken up in case of pipe breakages mostly caused due to ongoing works of laying utilities.
CM said that the Department has not received any major complaints from Bicholim, and Mayem. WRD has already taken up various measures as required to ensure raw water availability in North Goa and also alternate arrangement of raw water is also initiated.
“In order to achieve 24×7 water supply for our State, it is necessary to improve not only the water supply system facilities but also to improve the knowledge and understanding of wise water use and to get adequate water tariff. Keeping above in mind, the PWD is continuously investing in upgrading and modernizing our treatment facilities, distribution networks and storage systems,” he added
Sawant said that for the benefit of Bicholim and Mayem constituencies the Department is taking up 10 MLD WTP at Menkurem along with reservoirs, conveying and distribution pipelines. In addition number of various augmentation of water supply schemes is also taken up for improvement of water supply in the State
He also said that PWD is also striving to minimize losses and maximize the utilization of treated water resource. PWD is implementing smart monitoring systems for real time monitoring of water supply system.
“This will help PWD to optimize water distribution networks, detect and repair leaks promptly and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements so as to achieve the dream goal of 24×7,” he added
Further, Sawant said that Department has implemented Mobile App “PWD GOA” to register complaints public grievances which is a real time GIS based application for tracking and resolution of complaint.
“Additionally 24×7 helpline is available viz 7030055136 and 7030055036. With the above measures in place, proper and sufficient water supply is maintained in the State.” he added
