CANACONA: ‘Without education there is no salvation in life. However, never attempt to force your children for a particular type of education;, give them a chance to choose their path, the field of their interest’, , said Partagal Mutt Shrimad Vidyadhish Tirtha Swami Maharaj at the centenary celebration of Sri Damodar Vidyalaya of Sri Damodar Vidyaprasarak Sanstha in Loliem Canacona.
Speaking further, iIn 1924, the 20th Swami of Partgal Mutt, Srimad Indirakanth Tirtha Swami Maharaj, had a love and affection for the community. He recognized the importance of education during the Portuguese period. Education supports a person in his every aspects of his life and till his last breath. Setting up an organization or a society may be as easy task, however to keep it running is a challenge, The Shri Damodar Vidhyaprasarak society should be grateful to all those who have worked hard and with determination to keep this institution going ahead and that too on good and moral principles’.
Similarly Swami Maharaj advised the management and the school staff not to discriminate in education and also not to put children of any age under undue pressure.
;Partgali Mutt and this educational institution (Damodar Vidyalaya) have a very old and long relationship;, stated Chairman of Dhempo Group of Industries Srinivas Dhempo, speaking as the chief guest at this centenary function. Speaking further Dhempe while praising the work of Sri Damodar Vidyalaya, he said that Children should be given the opportunity to choose their field as per the present time and never treat the young ones in an authoritarian manner. ‘Teach children the Indian way of education without imitating the foreign culture. No matter what, but hard work is a giant step to success’, Dhempo advised on the occassion.
Earlier on this occasion, Swami Maharaj unveiled the oil painting of Indirakanth Tirtha Swami Maharaj in Indirakanth Auditorium, before Swami Maharaj visited Shree Keshav and Shree Damodar Devalayas.
The entire area was decorated with special decorations with flowers and lights. On this occasion, a procession of the idol of Indirakanth Tirtha Swami Maharaj was taken out. Swami Maharaj visited the Bhagavad Gita recitation room at Shri Damodar Vodhyalaya. The souvenir published on the occasion of this centenary year was released at the hands of Swami Maharaj. After the Ved Ghosha by Vaikunth Bhat, Sanjay Bhat and other priests started the program, school students presented Ishastavan and welcome song.
Sri Damodar Vidyaprasarak Sanstha President Vishwajit Warik offered padyapuja to Swami Maharaj. Shri Damodar Vidyalaya school Headmaster Jitendra Amshekar, President of Canacona Saraswat Samaj Vipul Bhat were present on the platform.
Saunstha President Vishwajit Warik presented 100 years of history in his welcome speech. A new building was constructed at the cost 3 crores during this period.. He informed that hostels are being run in the same way as primary, nursery, and secondary schools.
On the occasion of this centenary program, special school bags were distributed to 275 children of the school by the Rotary Club of Madgaon. Avin Pai Kane, Nikhil Shetye of Rotary Club were present at that time. Director Anil Pai and Principal Jitendra Amshekar proposed vote of thanks.
