New Delhi: Goa witnessed a landmark moment in Indian professional boxing as local boxer Pralhad Panda was crowned the Indian Boxing Council Featherweight National Champion at Susegado Strike Fight Night 4.0, held at the International Centre Goa lawns in Dona Paula. The event also saw a major upset, with Mizoram’s Vanlalenkawltira knocking out crowd favourite Kailas Gauns in the Superflyweight title bout.
Fight Night 4.0 marked a historic first for Indian boxing, becoming the country’s inaugural triple title professional boxing event. The evening combined intense competition with emerging talent, underscoring the growing stature of professional boxing in India.
Panda sealed his championship with a unanimous decision victory over Vinod Vanteddu of Telangana after a gruelling ten round contest. Displaying superior technical control, stamina and ring awareness, Panda dictated the pace from the opening bell and landed cleaner, more effective punches throughout the bout. Despite suffering an early cut near his eyelid, the Goan boxer showed resilience and composure to see out the fight.
Following his victory, Panda credited his coach Praveen Shirodkar for guiding his journey and acknowledged Susegado Strike for providing a professional platform. The reigning IBC West Zone champion dedicated the title to Goa and expressed his determination to continue bringing success to the state.
Earlier in the night, Kailas Gauns suffered a shock defeat as Vanlalenkawltira dominated from the outset, flooring the experienced Goan pugilist with relentless pressure and powerful strikes. The bout ended in a second round knockout, with the Aizawl based boxer overwhelmed with emotion after securing the Superflyweight title.
The card featured several other notable contests. Mohammed Dilshad claimed the IBC Middleweight title with a technical knockout win over Midhun A. In the women’s Super Fly division, Akanksha Singh secured a unanimous verdict against Lakshmi M Gireesh. Victories were also recorded by Asad Asif Khan, Raj Sahiba and Arshdeep Singh Batth, the latter scoring a second round knockout in the heavyweight category.
Officials praised the organisers for successfully delivering multiple professional events within a year. With Fight Night 4.0 concluding on a high, Susegado Strike reinforced its role in shaping a structured and competitive future for Indian professional boxing, while placing Goa firmly on the national boxing map.
