PANAJI: Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Sudin Dhavalikar has said that those involved in the cash-for-job scam are “playing with people and their futures,” while expressing distrust in complainant Pooja Naik’s claims.
Reacting to media questions on the controversy, Dhavalikar stated, “The Crime Branch has initiated an investigation into the cash-for-job scam, and I believe the Chief Minister will make the right decision. If any minister, IAS officer, or anyone from the PWD is involved, then they are playing with the people. I don’t trust Pooja Naik.”
He further demanded strict action against anyone found guilty. “If anyone is involved, the court must give them strict punishment,” Dhavalikar said.
The Minister also referred to an earlier case in Ponda, alleging that the police did not properly investigate a job scam involving a suspended teacher.
“I have seen the papers myself. I have a letter wherein a teacher took money. Teachers are involved in many such cases; one teacher from our school was also involved and was suspended,” he added.
