PORVORIM: The Minister for Tourism, Information Technology, Rohan Khaunte, today said that if people assume responsibility to make Goa an ideal State, the vision of a Vikasit Bharat 2047 will be possible.
The Minister in his address further said that there are people trying to malign Goa’s image on social media. However, he said that the State has a very strong foundation laid in tourism establishing itself as an international destination and its image can not be spoilt.
Further speaking, Khaunte said the State Government has taken exemplary steps to improve tourism in Goa through initiatives like regenerative tourism, spiritual and eco tourism, yoga and wellness, etc.
He said the Government has laid thrust on promoting traditional Goan festivals and it has been successful. He further said that care is being taken to protect Goa’s identity and heritage.
Khaunte said the Government has embarked on noteworthy projects like the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj museum in Ponda and the Town Square in Porvorim.
In the IT sector, Shri Khaunte said that the Government was improving net connectivity with a focus on rural digitisation. He informed of governments initiatives to increase free wifi spots in the State.
He also highlighted the digital nomads policy and its benefits to IT professionals in Goa.
