SADA: Thousands of women from the Mormugao constituency gathered at Sada on Sunday evening for a grand celebration of International Women’s Day organised by Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar in association with Murgao Mahila Morcha. The event witnessed an overwhelming turnout, with women from different parts of the constituency participating enthusiastically in the programme.
Damodar Naik, BJP Goa State President, attended the function as chief guest, while Minister Ramesh Tawadkar was present as the guest of honour. The dignitaries felicitated several women achievers from various fields in recognition of their contribution to society and their inspiring work in their respective areas.
Addressing the gathering, Naik spoke about the growing role of women in shaping the nation’s progress. He said that women today are excelling in every sphere, from administration and education to entrepreneurship and public life. He added that the increasing participation of women in different sectors has strengthened the country’s development and social progress.
Tawadkar said International Women’s Day is an occasion to recognise the strength, dedication and determination shown by women in every walk of life. He said women have made remarkable strides in social, political and economic spheres, and their contribution remains vital for the country’s continued growth and development.
Speaking on the occasion, Amonkar said the programme was organised to recognise the contribution of women in society and to create a platform where their achievements could be celebrated. He stated that women have always played a vital role in building families, communities and the nation, and such events serve as an opportunity to honour their dedication and hard work.
The function featured cultural performances and felicitation ceremonies, creating a festive atmosphere at the venue. Women achievers honoured during the event included individuals who have made notable contributions in social work, education, entrepreneurship and community service.
A large number of local leaders, party workers and residents from the Mormugao constituency were present for the celebration, which concluded with a message encouraging women to continue striving for progress and leadership in every field.
