FATORDA: Fatorda Police have registered a case against three persons, including a notary, for allegedly forging documents and attempting to fraudulently mutate a property in Salcete.
The complaint was filed by Prakash Ganapathi Bhat, Managing Director of Varnada Industries Pvt. Ltd., which has its registered office in Mumbai.
According to the complaint, between June 18, 2024 and August 9, 2024, at the office of the Mamlatdar of Margao, the accused persons — Marularadhya Patil, Anju Amonkar and Notary Virendra Kumar P. Dessai — allegedly forged the signature of the complainant.
Police said the accused prepared a false affidavit and a No Objection Certificate without the presence or consent of the complainant and attempted to submit the documents before the Mamlatdar of Margao for mutation of a property located at Sao Jose de Areal in Salcete.
The complainant stated that the property had already been sold to Varnada Industries Pvt. Ltd. on June 18, 2024 through the Sub-Registrar of Salcete, Margao and is currently mortgaged with a bank.
It is alleged that the accused attempted to use the forged documents to carry out a fraudulent mutation of the property, thereby cheating the complainant’s company.
Fatorda Police have registered the case and further investigation is being carried out by PSI Sanil Sawant Dessai.
