Three individuals have been booked by the Mormugao police for allegedly forging the registration number of a forklift to gain unauthorized entry into the Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) premises.
Based on a complaint filed by PSI Yeshwant Raikar of Mormugao Police Station, it has been alleged that the accused — Shamil Ahmed Mouzam, resident of Vasco; Imamasab Olekar, resident of Haveri, Karnataka; and Mohmmad Furakan Khan, resident of Vasco and native of Uttar Pradesh — acted in common intention to commit the offence.
According to police, the trio forged the registration number of a Forklift manufactured by SCA Heavy Equipment Pvt. Ltd and used it as genuine to gain access into the port. The forged number was reportedly used in connection with another forklift, manufactured by SANY, that had been involved in a motor vehicle accident. The accused allegedly did so knowing it would cause loss to some person, thereby cheating the authorities.
Following the complaint, Mormugao police have registered an offence under Sections 336(2), 336(3), 340(2) and 318(3) read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Saidatta Naik under the supervision of PI Dheeraj Devidas and guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
