COLVA: South Goa Superintendent of Police, Tikam Singh, has issued an official suspension order against three police constables attached to Colva Police Station following allegations of bribery.
The suspended personnel have been identified as Constables Amar Gaonkar, Siddesh Shirodkar, and Satyam Desai. According to preliminary reports, the trio allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe from a local scrap dealer. The nature and amount of the bribe have not yet been disclosed by the authorities.
SP Tikam Singh confirmed the suspensions and stated that a departmental inquiry has been initiated into the matter. “We are committed to maintaining transparency and accountability in the force. Any acts of corruption will be dealt with strictly,” he said.
Sources within the department suggest that the incident came to light after the scrap dealer filed a complaint with senior police officials, prompting an internal investigation. Further legal action will depend on the findings of the ongoing inquiry.
The incident has raised concerns among local residents, many of whom have called for stricter vigilance and reforms within the police ranks to curb corruption.
The Goa Police Department has assured the public that it will take all necessary steps to ensure justice and maintain the integrity of the force.
