MANDREN: In a major crackdown on illegal immigration, Mandrem Police arrested three foreign nationals found staying in Goa without valid visas during a combing operation conducted on May 10.
The drive, supervised by SDPO Pernem Shri Salim Shaikh, covered Arambol, Paliem, Keri, and Morjim, and involved 39 personnel, including officials from the FRRO, GRP, and Mopa Police Station. Authorities verified 91 tenants, checked 142 hotels and guest houses, and screened 70 foreigners during the operation.
The arrested individuals were identified as Roman Loskutov and Valentina Bokhan, both Russian nationals whose visas had expired in February 2023, and Dawid Wierzbowski, a Polish national with no valid visa documentation.
Police have registered separate offences under Section 7(1)(3) of the Foreigners Order, 1948, and Section 14 of the Foreigners Act, 1946. All three were taken into custody following due legal procedures.
Officials confirmed that investigations are ongoing and similar operations will continue to ensure compliance with visa regulations and national security protocols.
