New Delhi: The Goa Amateur Boxing Association has announced the selection of three promising boxers to attend a national level training camp at the IIS JSW facility in Bellary. Veer Rana, Ayan Ali and Vignesh Kholkar will take part in the 14 day Junior and Youth Boxing Camp scheduled from December 14 to December 29, with all hospitality arrangements provided to the participants.
The selection marks an important step in the development of the young boxers, who have shown consistent performance and potential at the state level. Ayan Ali currently trains at the Government High School in Porvorim, while Veer Rana and Vignesh Kholkar train at RCC Peddem under the guidance of Sports Authority of Goa coach Nilesh Khanolkar.
In addition to the three selected boxers, Siddhi Mandrekar of RCC Peddem and Raunak from RCC Salvador do Mundo were also shortlisted for the camp. However, both athletes were unable to attend due to academic commitments.
The selected boxers were felicitated by Francis Viegas, President of the Goa Amateur Boxing Association, who congratulated them on their achievement and wished them success during the intensive training programme. He encouraged the athletes to make full use of the exposure and learning opportunities available at the camp, which brings together young boxing talent from across the country.
The IIS JSW Bellary camp is designed to provide high quality technical training, physical conditioning and competitive exposure for junior and youth boxers, helping them prepare for future national and international competitions.
The felicitation ceremony was attended by GABA office bearers, including Advocate Gerson De Souza, Secretary of the association, along with the selected boxers. The association expressed confidence that the camp experience will contribute significantly to the athletes’ growth and strengthen Goa’s presence in Indian boxing.
