Canacona: Three persons were seriously injured after a car allegedly driven in a rash and negligent manner rammed into an Ola electric scooter at Mashem in Canacona.
According to a complaint filed by LHC Riya Khandekar of Canacona Police Station, the accident occurred on March 7 at around 5 pm near God’s Gift Hall at Dapot, Mashem on NH-66.
Police said the accused driver, identified as Bijo Georg, a resident of Kottayam in Kerala, was driving an Innova car from Canacona towards Pollem when he allegedly dashed against an oncoming Ola electric scooter travelling from Pollem towards Canacona.
As a result of the impact, the scooter rider Rajesh Pagi, a resident of Canacona, along with pillion riders Divya Pagi and Dashva Pagi, both residents of Galjibag, Canacona, fell on the road and sustained grievous injuries.
Police said the car driver initially stopped the vehicle but later fled from the spot along with the occupants without providing medical aid to the injured or informing the police.
Further investigation in the case is being carried out by ASI Rohidas Gaonkar of Canacona Police Station.
