Canacona: Canacona police have booked three men, all natives of Karwar in Karnataka, for allegedly outraging the modesty of a woman at a bar and restaurant in Gulem, Canacona.
According to police, the incident occurred on Friday afternoon at Sudharshan Bar & Restaurant, Gudi-Gulem. The accused have been identified as Rajesh Thakarkar, Sudhir Thali and Prashant Talikar, all residents of Nandangadha, Karwar, Karnataka.
Police stated that the accused allegedly abused the woman using filthy, derogatory and insulting language and threatened her by saying, “We will lift you, we will molest you and we can even murder you,” thereby insulting her modesty and causing fear for her life and safety.
It is further alleged that one of the accused clicked photographs of the woman on his mobile phone, after which all the accused continued to threaten her over an issue related to non-payment, police informed.
Based on the complaint, Canacona police registered an offence against all three accused under Sections 352, 79, 351 (2), 351 (3) read with 3 (5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
