SANGUEM: Three kilometres road stretch of Sanguem to the Dando area has become a death trap for the commuters. People blame the PWD (Roads) for their sub-standard work.
Commuters are experiencing a bumpy ride whenever they are passing through the main road between Dando Sanguem. Due to the huge potholes and rough patches, this stretch has become a death trap for commuters.
A local, Gurunath Naik, has demanded that the PWD take responsibility for clearing these potholes as soon as possible as it has become a death trap due to many potholes.
“This is the only road that connects the Curchorem, and its condition needs to be reviewed and improved by the PWD,” Naik said.
Another local, Yeshwant Naik, said last year, a new pipeline was put in by the JICA water supply project, and after this, the road was not restored to its original condition.
“Since then, the road has become rough and rocky due to a lack of asphalting. After several accidents at this place, the locals decided to take to the streets, and concrete was poured on the rock. A year later, the rain started, and the concrete washed off again,” he said.
He said It takes a lot of exercise and skill to drive on this road. Therefore, PWD should immediately plan measures on this rock, repair it, and make this road smooth for traffic.
