PORVORIM: Porvorim Police have arrested three more individuals in connection with the financial fraud involving the siphoning of funds from the account of Goa Samagra Shiksha. These arrests come after two accused were apprehended earlier last month.
Acting on technical surveillance and intelligence inputs, two police teams from Porvorim Police Station were dispatched to New Delhi and West Bengal. The first team arrested Mr. Sumanta Mondal, son of Santosh Mondal, aged 40 years and a resident of Nazirpur, Nadia, West Bengal. He was apprehended within the jurisdiction of Karimpur Police Station and is being brought to Goa on transit remand secured from the Tehatta Court.
Following his arrest, it was revealed that two other accused had fled to Delhi. With the assistance of Delhi Police, they were traced to the Paharganj area. The accused have been identified as Alamin Mondal, son of Abdul Majid Mondal, aged 35 years and a resident of Rautari, Tentul Baria, Nadia, West Bengal, and Bidyadhar Mallick, son of Madhabananda Mallick, aged 52 years and a resident of 38, Abinash Banerjee Lane, Choto Ramtala, Haora, Howrah, West Bengal. Both were placed under arrest on June 1, 2025, and Porvorim Police have secured six days of police custody for further investigation.
Initial findings have revealed that the arrested individuals were involved in procuring bank account details, SIM cards, and ATM cards from account holders and supplying these to their co-accused, who are currently being tracked. In return, they received monetary compensation for their role in the fraud.
The operation to apprehend the accused in West Bengal and Delhi was carried out by a team consisting of PSI Sitaram Malik, PSI Mandar Parab, PSI Saieel Vaigankar, and constables Mahadev Naik, Harun Xec, Tushar Raut, Nitesh Gaude, Akash Naik, and Hemant Gaonkar.
The case is part of a larger racket involving multiple individuals. A detailed investigation is underway under the supervision of PI Porvorim Rahul Parab, SDPO Porvorim Vishwesh Karpe, and SP North Goa Rahul Gupta, IPS.
