VASCO: Vasco police on Thursday arrested three employees of Reliance Smart Bazaar at Dabolim for allegedly stealing store items worth around ₹40,637 for their personal use.
The incident came to light following a complaint lodged by Haresh Behera, resident of Dabolim, who reported that the accused employees — Santosh Naik (Customer Services Associate), resident of Bogmallo, native of Karnataka; Kumar Muradi (Customer Services Associate), resident of Mormugao, native of Gadag, Karnataka; and Akash Balbhati (Security Loss Prevention Associate), resident of Zuarinagar–Birla, native of Bijapur, Karnataka — were entrusted with handling stock and checking customer billing at the retail store.
Police said that the three accused, with common intention, took advantage of their positions and allegedly removed various items from the store without billing them, diverting the goods for personal use.
All three were arrested on November 6, a day after the offence occurred. Vasco police have registered a case under Sections 316(4), 303(2) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The investigation is being carried out by PSI Plato Carvalho under the supervision of PI Vaibhav Naik and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
