PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that three warning notices will be issued to errant employees to improve their performance before ordering premature retirement.
The statement came following a request from the Goa Government Employees Association.
“Three warning notices will be issued to errant employees to improve their performance before ordering premature retirement. Notification is applicable to all,” said CM Sawant.
He further asserted that the office memorandum regarding premature retirement of non-performing govt employees is applicable not only to the Secretariat staff but to all employees of the Goa government.
Sawant said the Office Memorandum (OM) issued by the general administration department is not restricted to only the Secretariat but all departments across State.
“Strict action will be taken against all such non-performing staffers,” he said.
Goa Government Employees Association yesterday requested the state government to prematurely retire employees only after a thorough inquiry by forming a department-level committee so that employees don’t suffer due to wrong placement of facts.
They had also requested the government to consider central govt guidelines for premature retirement.
Under Secretary of Department of General Administration (GA) had issued an office memorandum to heads of all the departments in the Secretariat on Sept 16 to initiate strict action against non-performing or disobeying employees and even invoke service rules/Fundamental Rule-56 (j) if the need be. The rule empowers the authorities to retire any government servant in the public interest.
