VASCO: The Harbour Coastal Security PS arrested three water sports operators for taking excess passengers on the boat near Bat Island Baina.
Police said an offence was registered based on a complaint from Ravindranath C Dhuri, head constable, Harbour Coastal Security Police, that on Friday prior to 12.50 hrs near Bat Island Baina, the accused person, namely Prakash Shankar Rathod , resident of Badem, Assagao, Bardez, N/o Karnataka along with other co-accused namely Kushal, 22, r/o Candolim, n/o Gadag, Karnataka and Pramesh, 35 yrs, r/o Candolim n/o Gadag, Karnataka with their common intention committed an offence by carrying excess passengers/occupants.
The complainant said the boat’s carrying capacity was 46b, and the accused carried 60 persons on water sports passenger boat styled as M. V. Shree Renuka-I, bearing No. PNJ-817 beyond the limit permitted by negligently endangering the human life of others.
Hence offence vide HCSP CR No.01/2023 U/s 336 r/w 34 IPC stand registered.
