Margao: The Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG), in association with Ravindra Bhavan Margao, will host “Mhalgoddea Tiatristancho Bhouman” on February 27 at 3:30 pm at the Pai Tiatrist Auditorium, Ravindra Bhavan, Margao. The event is set to celebrate and recognise the invaluable contributions of artistes to Goa’s tiatr tradition.
A key highlight of the programme will be the Lifetime Contribution to Tiatr Awards 2025 (Commercial), established in memory of Sorgest Pai Tiatrist Joao Agostinho Fernandes. This year, the awardees include Leslie Pereira, Santano Pereira, and Joaquim Lorenco Fernandes (Jack Ferry), acknowledged for their exceptional work in acting, direction, writing, and music in commercial tiatr.
The event will also present the Young Achievers Awards 2025, instituted in memory of Sorgest Regina Fernandes, to recognise emerging talent. This year’s recipients are Maria Swizel Afonso, Fevila Fernandes, Pierson Paulo D’Costa, and Aston Soares for their dedication to tiatr at a young age.
Additionally, TAG will release the book “Kantar Kor” by Edwin D’Costa and distribute prizes to winners of the 13th Children’s Tiatr Competition, organised by the academy. The programme will see Nilesh Cabral as chief guest and Platilda Afonso e Dias as guest of honour.
The Tiatr Academy has extended an open invitation to the public to attend and celebrate Goa’s rich theatrical heritage.
