PANAJI: Tithee Bhoomkar and Siddharth Nunes emerged as the standout performers at the Bandodkar Panjim Gymkhana Tennis Open 2026, each clinching two titles across categories in the recently concluded tournament held in Panaji.
Bhoomkar completed an impressive double by winning both the ladies open singles and doubles titles. She secured the singles crown with a 6 to 3, 6 to 4 victory over Tvisha Sardesai. Bhoomkar then partnered with Bhaavya Bhoomkar to capture the ladies open doubles title, defeating Poojal Naik and Raisa Menezes 6 to 4, 6 to 1. The duo had earlier displayed commanding form in the semifinals with a dominant 6 to 0, 6 to 0 win.
Nunes also achieved a double triumph, winning the men’s open singles and mixed doubles titles. He claimed the men’s singles crown after defeating Rushil Anikar 7 to 5, 6 to 3 in the final. Nunes then teamed up with Aishwarya Nunes to secure the mixed doubles title, edging past Sreenath and Tanya 7 to 5, 7 to 5 in a closely fought contest.
In the men’s open doubles category, Prince De Silva and Nishad Shevde registered a convincing 6 to 2, 6 to 3 win over Shaurya Awasthi and Rushil Anikar to claim the title.
Veterans also made their mark during the tournament. Sameer Kakodkar won the men’s 60 plus singles final by defeating Manoj Pandey 6 to 1, 3 to 6, 10 to 6. In the 60 plus doubles category, Sanjay Shinde and David Mendonsa defeated Artemio Moraes and Caetano Fernandes 6 to 2.
In the men’s 45 plus category, Anurag Agrawal won the singles title with a 6 to 4, 6 to 3 victory over Dimitry Smirnov and also secured the doubles title alongside Jai Gill after defeating Sachin Dukle and Kevin Pinto.
Among the junior categories, Ethan Ataide won the boys under 18 title, while Kyan Mavany claimed the boys under 14 crown. Tvisha Sardesai dominated the girls’ events, winning both the under 14 and under 18 titles, while Arsh Sardesai secured the boys under 12 championship.
The wheelchair open category saw Mahesh Pagadala and Moises Rodrigues defeat Melvin Mendes and Niklesh Pednekar 4 to 2 in the final.
The closing ceremony was attended by Auduth Timblo, chairman of Fomento Group, along with officials from the Goa State Tennis Association and Panjim Gymkhana.
The tournament witnessed participation from 175 players across categories, with more than 230 matches played over several days. The event is held in honour of Dayanand Bandodkar, the first Chief Minister of Goa.
