Panaji: Goa’s rising basketball stars are set to shine at the State Junior (U18) Basketball Championships 2025, scheduled from July 28 to 30 at the Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium, Navelim. Organized by the Panjim Basketeers Club in association with the Goa Basketball Association (GBA) and the Sports Authority of Goa, the tournament will feature top teams like DBO Fatorda, DBO Panjim, Sonics, NCS Vasco, Lourdes Basketball Club, and Sharada Mandir.
Open to players born on or after January 1, 2007, the championship will also serve as a selection trial for Goa’s boys and girls teams for the 75th Junior National Championship in Ludhiana, Punjab, this September.
GBA Secretary Parind Nachinolkar said the aim is to grow basketball across Goa, especially in areas like Ponda and Bicholim. GBA President Shane Dias added that a four-year vision plan is being developed to improve infrastructure and ensure the sport’s long-term growth in the state.
