MOPA: As part of its continued efforts to curb unauthorised and illegal tourist-related activities in the state, the Department of Tourism, in coordination with the Mopa Airport Police Station, has recently taken action against four individuals who were found violating the Goa Registration of Tourist Trade Act, 1982.
The incident occurred at Manohar International Airport, Mopa, where these individuals were found carrying illegal activities to detriment the smooth movement of tourist persons/passengers as well as causing inconvenience to the tourist visiting Goa.
Shri Krishna Ashok Chandgadkar, resident of Morod, Mapusa, Bardez; Shri Mahesh Jairam Pirankar, resident of Naibag, Pernem; Shri Naseeb Sabbir Shaikh, resident of Pedamaol, Sirvoi, Quepem; and Shri Vishal Indrajeet Nishad, resident of Pinto Wado, Verla, were found engaging in unauthorised tourist-related activities at Manohar International Airport, Mopa, in violation of Section 2(g) read with Section 26 of the Registration of the Goa Tourist Trade Act, 1982 and the individuals have been produced before the Department of Tourism.
The Department of Tourism continues to work proactively to uphold the standards of responsible and regulated tourism.
Tourists are advised to engage only with registered service providers and to report any unauthorised activity to the nearest tourism or police authority.
