PANAJI: Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte has come out in support of the proposed Unity Mall project, urging critics to familiarize themselves with the project’s concept before raising objections.
He emphasized that the government remains committed to environmental sustainability while undertaking development initiatives.
“There should not be opposition to the Unity Mall without understanding its concept. The government is conscious about the environment while planning projects,” Khaunte said.
Addressing concerns over potential environmental impact, the minister noted that the proposed site is flanked by existing private structures, and any assessment should take the surrounding context into account.
The Unity Mall is envisioned as part of a wider effort to promote local products and showcase Goa’s cultural heritage. Authorities have assured that the project will be executed in a sustainable and inclusive manner, balancing development goals with ecological considerations.
