CALANGUTE: A dispute among a group of tourists turned fatal in Calangute after one of them was allegedly stabbed to death following an argument over money late on Friday.
Police said the group had travelled to Goa to visit a casino and were staying at a guest house in the Calangute area.
According to preliminary information, a heated argument broke out among the tourists over financial matters. As the quarrel escalated, the victim reportedly fled from the scene and ran towards a nearby hotel in an attempt to seek safety.
However, the accused allegedly chased him into the hotel premises and attacked him with a sharp weapon.
The victim sustained grievous injuries in the assault and collapsed on the spot. He was rushed for medical assistance but succumbed to his injuries.
Police teams reached the location soon after being alerted and have begun an investigation. The accused has been identified, and efforts are underway to ascertain the exact sequence of events and motive behind the fatal attack. Authorities are also verifying CCTV footage from the guest house and hotel premises to reconstruct the incident. A case is being registered, and further investigation is in progress
