CANACONA: On Saturday, a devastating incident unfolded in Shristhal, resulting in the tragic death of a 40-year-old man. Jaya Varak, who was riding his motorbike, found himself in the midst of a fierce bullfight that turned deadly.
Varak had stopped his motorbike to avoid a collision with the two aggressively fighting bulls that had taken over the road.
However, the situation quickly spiralled out of control as the bulls charged from all directions, knocking Varak and his motorbike to the ground. The impact was severe, leaving Varak with serious head injuries.
Following the incident, Varak was initially treated at the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Canacona.
Due to the severity of his injuries, he was subsequently transferred to the South Goa District Hospital (SGDH) in Margao and later to the Goa Medical College (GMC) in Bambolim for advanced medical care.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Varak succumbed to his injuries on Saturday afternoon.
