PANAJI: Konkan Railway has informed that the trains services have been restored on the Konkan route after fit certificate was issued at 3.45 am today.
“Train services restored on Konkan Railway route after track fit certificate was issued at 3:45 am today, all trains were suspended to ensure safety of passengers due to rising of water above danger level of Vashishti river between Chiplus & Kamthe station of Ratnagiri on Konkan Railway,” said Konkan Railway in a statement
Due to gusty rains and landslide, a train was derailed on the Dudhsagar-Sonaulim section in Goa with the engine and the first general running off the tracks. No passengers were injured.
Passengers on the affected coach were shifted to other coaches and the train was sent back to Kulem, according to last known reports.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, about 6,000 passengers were left stranded as train services on the Konkan Railway route in Ratnagiri district were suspended after a river overflowed following heavy rains. However, the suspension of trains was lifted on the Konkan Railway route.
Several parts of Goa, including Sattari and Bicholim tehsils in the north and Dharbandora in the south, are reeling under a flood-like situation, and a large number of houses were inundated as the water level of some rivers rose following heavy rains over the past few days
