PANAJI: In a significant milestone for inclusive democracy, Madhu Gupta, a transgender voter, cast her vote for the first time during the Zilla Panchayat Elections 2025, marking a moment of pride and progress in the State’s electoral history.
The occasion symbolised growing recognition and inclusion of the transgender community in the democratic process. Visibly enthusiastic after voting, Madhu said the experience was deeply fulfilling and empowering.
“Voting is the right of every individual, and we too deserve the freedom to choose a candidate of our choice. Being included in this process has made us extremely happy,” she said.
Expressing pride in having contributed to the democratic exercise, Madhu added that participation in elections helps shape the future of the country. She urged citizens to actively take part in elections and exercise their right to vote in large numbers.
