BAMBOLIM: In a landmark achievement for Goa’s public healthcare system, the IVF Centre at Goa Medical College (GMC) has successfully delivered triplets under the state’s free IVF treatment initiative. Health Minister Vishwajit Rane announced the milestone with great pride, calling it a moment that reflects both medical excellence and renewed hope for couples struggling with infertility.
The mother, who faced complex medical challenges, underwent a successful Caesarean section at GMC and gave birth to three healthy babies — a male baby weighing 2.32 kg, and two female babies weighing 1.77 kg and 1.525 kg respectively. Both the mother and the newborns are in stable and healthy condition, according to the hospital authorities.
“This achievement is a testament to the expertise, dedication, and compassionate care provided by our medical team,” said Rane. He emphasized that the free IVF initiative was launched to support couples who dream of starting a family but are unable to do so due to the emotional and financial burden of infertility. “Our IVF centre aims to give new hope to those who had nearly given up,” he added.
The Health Minister congratulated the family and expressed his sincere appreciation to the entire GMC team, stating that this success highlights the growing impact of Goa’s IVF program in transforming lives. The state government continues to invest in accessible fertility care as part of its broader mission to strengthen public health infrastructure and support family wellbeing.
