LOUTOLIM: The Fatorda Police have arrested a truck driver from Tripura for allegedly causing a hit-and-run accident at Sam’s Bar, Farwada, Loutolim, which left two women injured. The incident occurred on October 23, 2025, around 4:20 p.m., when the truck driver, who was initially unidentified, rammed into a Jupiter scooter and fled the scene.
According to the State complaint filed by ASI Hemant Gaude of Fatorda Police Station, the truck was being driven in a rash and negligent manner, resulting in the vehicle colliding with the scooter. The rider, Shidhi Gaonkar, and pillion rider, Rashika Naik, both residents of Shiroda, Ponda, sustained injuries in the mishap.
Police stated that the driver fled the spot without stopping to assist the victims or informing the authorities. The injured pillion rider, Rashika Naik, is currently undergoing treatment at GMC, Bambolim.
During the subsequent investigation, the accused driver was identified as Debajyoti Mukharjee, a resident of Mashaullunakoti, Tripura. He was arrested and later released on bail.
Further investigation into the case is being conducted by ASI Hemant Gaude of Maina-Curtorim Police Station, officials confirmed.
