PONDA: A Tata company Truck number KA 22 D 1544, while proceeding from Goa towards Bangalore, at Anmod Ghat, caught fire near the RTO check post in the Karnataka border.
The driver tried to douse the fire by using branches and bushes, but as the fire broke out, the fire brigade was called; as the fire brigade from Goa was near it tried to reach the spot, it was not permitted since the fire incident occurred in Karnataka Jurisdiction.
When the fire brigade from Khanapur was again called again and reached the spot, the vehicle was gutted.
The fire was caught on Monday at around 10 pm while the Khanapur Fire brigade reached at the spot around 4 am. It is learnt that the ill-fated vehicle belongs to Altaph Londe from Londa.
