MORMUGAO: Mormugao police have registered an offence following a complaint filed by SI/Exe Baburao Bhimrao Gawhad, In-Charge CIW, CISF Unit, MPA Goa, regarding an alleged attempt to forge documents and transport iron pellets illegally from the port premises.
As per the complaint, the incident occurred on February 26 at around 7.30 pm at the DPC Gate of the Mormugao Port Authority (MPA).
The accused have been identified as Asif Babasaheb Dambal, a resident of Belgaum, Karnataka and driver of the truck, Suresh Lad, a resident of Xeldem, Tillamol, Quepem and owner of the truck, along with other unknown persons.
Police said the accused allegedly forged a weighment slip and presented it as genuine before CISF officials, claiming that the vehicle was carrying steam coal.
It was further alleged that instead of loading coal from Adani Mormugao Pvt Ltd, the truck was loaded with iron pellets from Delta Pvt Ltd, which did not match the service order.
The accused allegedly attempted to transport the iron pellets out of the MPA premises. However, the vehicle was intercepted by on-duty CISF personnel at the DPA Gate before it could exit the port area.
An offence has been registered, and further investigation is being carried out by PSI Saidatta Naik of Mormugao Police Station.
