Sangolda: A container truck transporting raw materials overturned at a sharp bend in Sangolda on Tuesday morning, causing a brief disruption in traffic but resulting in no injuries.
Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that the driver appeared to lose control of the vehicle while navigating the curve.
The truck subsequently collided with a roadside electrical unit before toppling onto its side.
The incident, though not fatal, raised serious concerns among local residents, who pointed to ongoing road excavation work as a major contributing factor. According to locals, the road had recently been dug up for utility-related work, leaving behind uneven surfaces and loose debris.
They alleged that the absence of proper warning signs and reflective barriers made the stretch particularly dangerous, especially after dark.
Emergency services arrived at the spot shortly after the mishap. Power supply in the immediate vicinity was temporarily affected due to damage to the electrical unit, but was restored within a few hours by officials from the electricity department.
Residents have urged authorities to conduct an immediate safety audit of the road and implement corrective measures, including proper resurfacing, improved signage, and stricter traffic management. They warned that without prompt action, similar incidents could occur, potentially with more serious consequences.
