PANAJI: The Department of Business Administration at Don Bosco College, Panaji, in association with the Wellness Club, organized an informative session on “Foundations of a Healthy Lifestyle: Fitness and Nutrition for Young Adults” on March 13, 2026. The programme, hosted by First Year BBA students, focused on raising awareness about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle through regular fitness and balanced dietary habits.
The session featured fitness and nutrition consultant Sahil Chopdekar as the guest speaker. Drawing on his professional experience, he shared valuable insights on how young adults can build healthier lifestyles while managing their academic commitments. He explained that health is not limited to physical appearance but involves several essential aspects such as cardiovascular endurance, strength, flexibility, mobility, and overall mental well being.
During the discussion, the speaker highlighted the importance of developing a sustainable fitness routine that can be maintained over the long term. He also emphasized the role of proper nutrition in supporting an active lifestyle. Students were introduced to the significance of essential macronutrients including proteins, carbohydrates, fats, and fibre, and how these nutrients help maintain energy levels and support metabolic functions.
Practical suggestions were also shared to help students adopt healthier habits in their daily lives. These included increasing muscle strength through regular exercise, staying physically active during the day, drinking adequate water, managing stress effectively, and ensuring sufficient and quality sleep.
The programme also featured an interactive segment where students actively participated by asking questions related to weight management, maintaining balanced diets, and incorporating simple fitness routines into their daily schedules. The discussion encouraged participants to focus on realistic and consistent lifestyle changes rather than following extreme or unsustainable diet trends.
The session provided valuable guidance and motivation for students to make informed decisions about their health and well being. The programme was conducted under the guidance of faculty member Glenda Mascarenhas, who supported the students in organizing the event.
