PANAJI: The Tuem Hospital Kruti Samiti has warned of launching an agitation if the long-delayed Tuem sub-district hospital is not fully operational by December this year.
In a memorandum submitted to the Director of Health Services, the Samiti demanded immediate commencement of the hospital, which has been lying idle for nearly eight years.
Expressing anger over repeated delays, the Samiti said the people have “lost trust in the local MLA due to false promises.”
The 100-bedded hospital, constructed at a cost of ₹52 crore by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC), was meant to function as a fully equipped sub-district hospital linked to Goa Medical College.
The project was expected to be completed by March 2017 but has since seen little progress.
Currently, only the dialysis unit—formally inaugurated by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in September 2021—has been made functional, while the rest of the building remains vacant and unused.
