ST CRUZ: In a joint operation between Odisha and Goa Police, two individuals wanted in connection with a murder case were arrested today in St. Cruz, North Goa.
The arrest follows a murder investigation into the death of Rupsingh Mhaji, whose body was discovered at Deysur Pond in Kalahandi, Odisha, on May 23, 2025.
The Odisha Police had filed a case (Cr. No. 56/25) under Sections 103(1) and 238 BNS for murder and tampering with evidence. In the pursuit of the suspects, Odisha Police reached out to Goa Police for assistance.
Acting on the request, two teams from the Old Goa Police, under the supervision of SP North Rahul Gupta, conducted a search operation in the St. Cruz and Merces areas, alongside Odisha Police personnel, including SI Baidyanath Nayak and Constable R. R. Patra.
After a meticulous search, the police teams successfully apprehended the two accused Lingraj Man 36, and Thabir Maji, 23, both residents of Kalahandi, Odisha.
The duo was arrested and handed over to Odisha Police for further investigation and legal action.
The arrest marks a significant development in the investigation, with authorities continuing to probe the circumstances surrounding Mhaji’s death and the role of the accused in the crime.
Both Lingraj Man and Thabir Maji will be taken back to Odisha for further questioning.
