ANJUNA: The managers of two clubs have been booked by the Anjuna police for playing loud music for longer than permitted.
Both Diaz Pool Club and Bar in Anjuna and Noah Goa in Vagator had previously been given showcause letters for breaking noise pollution laws. According to the authorities, Anjuna police inspector Suraj Gawas formally complained about Noah Goa in Vagator.
According to the complaint, the club played music at a volume higher than allowed on December 1 from 12 am to 6 am. Noise pollution was present in the neighbourhood at the time, with a measured sound level of 66.7 dB.
The Diaz Pool Club and Bar in Anjuna was also found to be in violation of noise limits in a different occurrence. After it was found that loud music was played at the establishment on November 30 from 2 to 11 p.m. and on December 3 from 2 to 11:28 p.m., a complaint was filed on Wednesday.
During these periods, the measured sound levels were 78.8 and 76.9 dB, respectively, over the permitted thresholds.
The Anjuna police have reported violations in both cases under the Environment Protection Act of 1986 and the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules of 2000.
