CALANGUTE: Calangute Police on Thursday took swift preventive action by arresting two men for allegedly harassing tourists and clicking their photographs without permission at Baga beach.
The accused have been identified as P. Arantha (43), son of Periyasamy, a resident of Vijayanagarpuram, Tiruvallur district, Tamil Nadu, and Vijay T (38), son of Subaiya Thirupathi, a resident of Venkatarajukuppam, Tamil Nadu.
According to police, the two were found engaging in objectionable behaviour by photographing tourists without their consent and causing harassment along the popular beach stretch. Acting promptly, Calangute Police apprehended both individuals to prevent further inconvenience to visitors.
Both accused have been arrested under preventive action provisions of Section 170 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Suraksha Sanhita (BNNS), 2023.
Police officials reiterated that strict action will be taken against anyone found harassing tourists, adding that such measures are essential to maintain law and order and ensure a safe and pleasant experience for visitors in the coastal belt.
