VASCO: In a major drug bust, Vasco police arrested two individuals for possessing over 4 kg of suspected ganja, valued at ₹4 lakh in the open market.
According to police reports, the arrests took place on the night of March 7, 2025, between 7:44 PM and 11:30 PM, near Laxmi Temple in Kharewado, Vasco. The accused, identified as Yesunand Souza (33), originally from Khanapur, Belagavi, and James Swamy alias Ayan Rafiq Shaikh (35), from Lohegaon, Pune, were caught red-handed by the police.
Yesunand Souza (33)was found in possession of 4.028 kg of suspected ganja, while James Swamy (35) was apprehended for aiding and abetting the crime. The police have registered a case under Vasco Police invoking Sections 20(ii)(b)(B) and 29 of the NDPS Act.
Both accused have been arrested and lodged in the Vasco police lock-up. The police have followed all Supreme Court guidelines during the arrest. The respective police stations in Pune and Belagavi have been informed to notify the families of the accused.
