CURCHOREM: Curchorem Police have arrested two persons after seizing a large quantity of suspected ganja during an operation carried out at Curchorem.
Based on a state complaint lodged by PSI Gautam Shetkar of Curchorem Police Station, police said that on February 4, 2026, at around 4.25 pm, the accused were apprehended at the S.A.G. ground behind the Sateri temple at Curchorem.
The accused have been identified as Sangram Raut, a resident of Xeldem, Quepem, originally from Odisha, and Umesh Yadav, a resident of Tilamol, Quepem, originally from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. During the operation, police recovered one grey-coloured backpack and one sky-blue trolley bag (suitcase) from their possession.
Upon inspection, the bags were found to contain 10 bundles of greenish leafy substance with flowering and fruiting tops, suspected to be ganja, weighing a total of 9.116 kg. The seized contraband is estimated to be worth approximately ₹9.11 lakh.
Both accused were arrested in connection with the case. Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Pramod Tari of Curchorem Police Station.
