Canacona: Canacona Police have registered a case against two men after a teenage boy died of electrocution while carrying out welding work in Palolem.
The complaint was lodged by Ningappa Lamani, a resident of Pansulem, Canacona, and native of Gadar, Karnataka, who reported that on October 27, 2025, around 12:15 pm, his adolescent son was engaged by the accused persons, identified as Sidharth alias Umesh, a resident of Mastimol, Canacona, and Joseph, a resident of Palolem, Canacona, for welding grill doors.
According to police, the work involved hazardous electrical welding, and the accused allegedly failed to provide any safety measures or protective gear to the minor worker. During the course of the work, the boy suffered a severe electric shock and succumbed to electrocution.
Police said the incident occurred due to the negligence of the accused persons, who have been booked for engaging a minor in dangerous work and causing death by negligence.
