Verna: Verna Police have registered a case against two persons in connection with an assault incident reported near Holy Church at Verna on January 27, 2026.
According to the complaint lodged by Reynold Abranches, a resident of Verna, the incident occurred at around 7.55 pm near Holy Church. The accused, identified as Richie Dias and Sheldon Carvalho, both residents of Sancoale, allegedly abused the complainant and his brother, Sheldon Abranches, using filthy language and assaulted them with fist blows with common intention.
Police said that thereafter accused No. 1, Richie Dias, allegedly assaulted the complainant’s brother with an iron rod. Both the accused are also reported to have threatened the complainant and his brother with dire consequences.
Verna Police have taken cognisance of the matter and further investigation is being carried out by PSI Mahesh Bhomkar of Verna Police Station.
