Pernem: Mopa Airport Police have registered an offence against two men for allegedly forging a tourist taxi registration number plate and illegally converting the vehicle into a ‘rent-a-cab’ for commercial use.
According to police, the accused — Vidhyadhar Vinayak Prabhu, owner of a Suzuki Baleno (GA-08-V-9726), and Shubham Mahesh Orewale, the driver — altered the registration plate of the tourist taxi and rented the vehicle to customers to earn profits. Police said the act cheated government authorities of due revenue.
The case was registered on the complaint of PSI Viraj Sawant of Mopa Airport Police Station. The incident occurred at Bhendalem, Ozarim, Pernem, around 4.30 pm on Wednesday.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Sawant.
