PANAJI: Goa Police registered two separate cases of illegal gambling on January 14, 2026, at Bicholim and Panaji, and seized cash along with gambling materials from the accused.
In the first incident, Ladu M. Gawas (HC-5037) of Bicholim Police Station lodged a state complaint stating that on January 14 between 3.45 pm and 4.30 pm, at Karapur, Sankhalim in Bicholim, an accused identified as Girish, son of Prabhakar Gade (45), resident of Maulingtod, Sankhalim, was caught red-handed while accepting money bets from members of the public in an open public place.
Police seized cash amounting to Rs 820 along with other gambling accessories from his possession. Further investigation is being carried out by HC Ladu Gawas of Bicholim Police Station.
In another case, Panaji Police registered a gambling offence based on a state complaint lodged by Gurudas Ghadi (HC-5340).
As per the complaint, on January 14 at around 3.30 pm, near Alfran Plaza close to the rickshaw stand at New Market, Panaji, the accused Khajamainooddin Palledar, son of Mehboob Palledar (51), resident of Gujrebhat, Talaulim, Curca, Tiswadi, was caught red-handed while accepting money bets on numerical digital numbers as a game of chance in a public place. Police seized Rs 940 in cash in different denominations along with other gambling articles.
Further investigation in the Panaji case is being conducted by HC Gurudas Ghadi of Panaji Police Station.
