Pernem: Mandrem Police have registered two separate cases against resort operators in Morjim for allegedly playing loud music without permission and causing noise pollution.
In the first case, Mandrem Police registered Crime No. 23/2026 on March 4 at 4:46 pm based on a complaint filed by PSI Pratik V. Garudi of Mandrem Police Station.
Police said that at around 2:25 pm on March 4, the accused, Anand Rudrappa Herekar (37), manager of Marbella Beach Resort at Gaude Waddo, Morjim in Pernem, allegedly played loud music during a Holi party organised at the resort without obtaining permission from the concerned authority, thereby causing noise pollution and violating sound level regulations.
In another case, Mandrem Police registered Crime No. 20/2026 on February 23 at 1:47 am following a complaint filed by Sagardeep Sirsaiker, a resident of Chapora Dabholwada in Bardez.
According to the complaint, on February 22 at around 11:55 pm, the accused Agnelo Dsouza, a resident of Vithaldas Wada in Morjim, allegedly played loud music beyond the permitted time limit at Orion Beach Resort, Morjim, without obtaining the required permission from authorities, resulting in noise pollution.
Both cases have been registered under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 and the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000, and further investigation is in progress.
