Ponda/Sanguem: Two separate cases of rash and negligent driving resulting in serious injuries have been registered by police in Ponda and Collem.
In the first incident reported by Shivdas Satarkar, a resident of Curti Ponda, a road accident occurred on April 29 at around 9:30 AM near the MRF Company in Usgao, Ponda. The accused, Vitthal Tupurwadi, a resident of Tisk Usgao and the driver of a Wagon-R car, allegedly drove the vehicle in a rash and negligent manner while heading towards Ponda. Upon reaching the spot near MRF, he reportedly rammed into a Jupiter scooter from behind, causing grievous injury to the rider Raghoba Kurtikar of Cundi Ponda, particularly to his right leg. The case is under investigation by ASI R. Bhomkar of Ponda Police Station.
In the second incident, Pritesh Velip of Kalay Sanguem lodged a complaint regarding an accident that took place on July 25 at around 6:00 PM at Four Road Junction, Voldev, Kalay. The accused, identified as Supresh Naik of Collem Dharbandora, was reportedly riding a TVS Ntorq scooter in a rash and negligent manner while traveling from Curchorem to Collem. He allegedly hit a pedestrian, Shantaram Velip of Kalay Sanguem, who was crossing the road, resulting in head injuries to the victim. The case is being investigated by Head Constable Raghunath Gaonkar (HC-4958) of Collem Police Station.
Both cases highlight growing concerns over road safety and reckless driving in the state.
