CANACONA: The Water Resources Department began the works for construction of Flood-gate Protection Wall, Embankment and Beautification along the Kushavati River, near Partagali Jeevottam Math, Partagal in Poinguinim village of Canacona on Tuesday.
The Foundation stone was laid for the 2.57 cr worth works by Irrigation department at the hands of Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar in the presence of Minister for Water Resource Development, Co-operation and Provedoria Subhash Shirodkar, ZP (Poinguinim) Shobhana Velip, Poinguinim Sarpanch Savita Tawadkar and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Tawadkar said, Canacona is progressing in every angle, be it Education, Employment and or Health, besides various schemes of the government are widely implemented benefitting a large number of people of Canacona.
Minister Subhash Shirodkar assured to complete construction works before Ram Navami. ‘Irrigation Department will conduct camps at 7 different places. Two to Three crores are being given as subsidies to the farmers. And no farmer will suffer because of shortage of water anywhere in the State. Goa will develop by 2037, well before the national target of Vikashit Bharat -2047.
Poinguinim Dy.Sarpanch Sunil Paingankar, Panchas members Mahesh Naik, Asmita Joshi, Satish Paiginkar, Praveer Bhandari, Secretary of Jivottam Partagal Math Committee Anil Pai, besides WRD Engineers and Officers and several others were present.-
