MAPUSA: Two people have been detained by Anjuna police in relation to the theft of Rs 4.62 lakh from an Arpora ATM.
Following the incident, which happened early on Saturday morning, the suspects, Rustom Haq (37), and Mijanur Mulla (45), who are both residents of Assagao but were originally from New Delhi, were apprehended and placed under arrest.
Saurabh Bhadoria submitted a complaint alleging that unidentified individuals had broken into an ATM and taken money. This led to the arrest.
The police took immediate action, opened an inquiry, and found that Haq and Mulla were the culprits.
A senior police official stated that the suspects broke into the ATM and took the money using gas cutters. Subsequent inquiry has shown that there is a possibility that the two are also connected to additional ATM thefts.
The police are still looking into the two suspects to find out the entire scope of their illegal activity, even though they have been charged under pertinent provisions of the law.
