MARGAO: Margao Police have arrested two men from Uttar Pradesh who were allegedly operating a statewide cheating racket by impersonating air-conditioner technicians and duping residents during “servicing” visits.
Investigators say the pair would visit homes under the pretext of routine AC maintenance and intentionally release the coolant gas. After completing a basic cleaning — for which they charged ₹650 — the suspects would claim the AC required an urgent gas refill and demand around ₹3,500 from customers.
During interrogation, both accused reportedly confessed to using the same method to deceive more than a dozen households across Goa.
