PONDA: Ponda police have registered an offence following a road accident reported near the old panchayat at Borim on February 28.
According to a state complaint filed by ASI Rohidas Bhomkar of Ponda Police Station, the incident occurred at around 3 pm when the accused driver, identified as Saju Phadte, a resident of Borim, Ponda, was allegedly driving his Wagon R car in a rash and negligent manner from Ponda towards Margao.
Police said that upon reaching near the old panchayat at Borim, the car allegedly collided with an oncoming Activa scooter.
As a result of the impact, the scooter rider, Tejas Kamat, a resident of Volvoi, Ponda, sustained grievous head injuries, while the pillion rider, Kirti Gaonkar, a resident of Collem, Sanguem, suffered grievous injuries to her left hand.
An offence has been registered, and further investigation is being conducted by ASI R. Bhomkar of Ponda Police Station.
